Sustainability Consulting

Sustainable construction and the development of the construction industry towards construction activities with closed material cycles is a common task of all construction professionals for the compliance with climate targets as well as the perspective achievement of CO2 neutrality of the construction sector in 2050 according to the adopted climate protection plan of the German government from 2016.

However, coping with these requirements in a concrete project, in addition to the time and budgetary challenges, poses major challenges for construction professionals and decision-makers, because until now there has been a lack of uniform specifications and established courses of action for implementing these goals in concrete projects.

In the past, the founders of Archicon have already managed construction projects from the client’s point of view with special requirements for sustainability and thus also for a special quality of construction. Among them was a project that demonstrably had to meet the highest sustainability requirements and was therefore simultaneously planned and built in accordance with three green building certifications according to the standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) with the certification target Platinum, as well as according to the standard LEED with the certification target Platinum, and the standard BREEAM with the certification target „Excellent“, and in addition according to the principles of the Cradle to Cradle principle.

Benefits

The founder of Archicon, Andre Flinterhoff, is a licensed DGNB consultant with the German Sustainable Building Council and has already been responsible for construction and furnishing projects in accordance with the DGNB certification system in the past.

His expertise in the context of sustainable construction also includes knowledge of the production and recycling processes, i.e. the entire life cycle of building and furniture products. In the current version of the German Sustainability Council (DGNB) certification, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the EU taxonomy and ESG legislative initiatives are also taken into account.

The principles of sustainable building according to DGNB are generally valid for sustainable management and are defined according to the following three guidelines:

  • Life cycle assessment: all assessments take into account the entire life cycle of a building
  • Holistic approach: Equal weighting of the three central sustainability areas of ecology, economy and socio-cultural aspects
  • Performance orientation: DGNB System evaluates the overall performance of a project instead of individual measures

By building up its own knowledge, Archicon thus competently closes the gap between the manufacturer’s know-how and the customer’s requirements.
